Design: Intelligent and Beautiful

One of the more unique homes on the "westside" of Los Angeles is located on the corner of 26th Street & California Avenue (one block north of Wilshire) in Santa Monica.

Virtually every square inch of what was once a simple tract home is covered in mosaic tiles .

The detail, a combination of various sizes and colors is incredible.

In one corner is a creative marine mosaic.

Elsewhere, a beautiful apple tree. Around back is a nod to the Hollywood sign!

Even the chimney is covered with tile. Amazing.

Perhaps this is a random thought, but how does a home like this give evidence to the existence of God? Buildings - whether beautiful or ugly - do not simply "appear." In fact, random forces of nature, like a tornado, destroy rather than create.

Design, whether the original building or the tile mosaic now covering it, always equals intelligence. None of us would drive by this (or any) home and think "look what happened by chance." No, a creation implies a Creator.

Almost 2000 years ago, the Apostle Paul wrote to believers in the large, cosmopolitan city of Rome: "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made ..." (Romans 1:20).

I love this home: unique, beautiful .... and serving as a reminder that design points to a Designer.
