I found this DVD "Dogtown and Z Boys" at our local public library. It's a documentary on the surfing and skateboard culture that developed in the south Santa Monica, Ocean Park, and Venice communities here in Los Angeles.

In 1978 I picked up a copy of this little comic book "A Skateboard Tale" at the local hobby shop here in Los Angeles.

Like a lot of kids my age, I was enamored by with the whole skateboard phenonma.

I wasn't necessarily any good . . . but skateboarding was THE sport in the mid to late 1970's.

Anyway, some employee put a stack of these out at the register. Good for him. Glad I picked one up.

I LOVE the style now as much as I did back then.

Totally 70's.

I don't know who wrote "A Skateboard Tale" -- or who from Gordon and Smith printed and distributed it --- but it's great. Thanks.
It's pretty - OK, very - retro in terms of style, but the message is just as relevant as it was 30+ years ago.
This little book, in all its simplicities, was one of the steps God used to eventually lead me into a relationship with Himself.
