Los Angeles is home to thousands of small apartment buildings like the one above. This building is located on Overland Avenue in the westside neighborhood of Palms. There is something unique, however, about this building that gives it an "only in L.A." feel.

The name.
No, it's not the Capri - as you'd expect.
It's the Crapi.
Not sure of any other way to pronouce it besides "crappy."
The Crapi Apartments. Huh.

Not sure what the owner (or builder) was thinking. The building doesn't look crappy.

The cars in front don't look crappy.

While Overland is a busy street, the neighborhood doesn't look crappy.

So what's with the name?
As a Christian, I'm reminded that throughout the Scriptures names weren't about simply sounding nice, they actually meant something.
And in some cases, an individuals' name was actually changed. Most notable:
Abram (exalted father) became Abraham (father of many)
Jacob (he deceives) became Israel (he struggles with God)
Simon (listening) became Peter (rock)
Saul (prayed for) became Paul (little)
Maybe it's time for the Crapi Apartments to get a new name. Just a suggestion.
Located on the eastside of Overland Avenue, north of Palms Blvd, south of the Santa Monica Freeway.
